United States: Federal Government Solicits Comments On Programs Impacting Tribal Communities


The Department of Health and Human Services has announced a request for public comment on proposals to adopt new Native Americans program policies and procedures, including Social and Economic Development Strategies; Tribal Governance; Assets for Independence; and Native Language Preservation and Maintenance (Language P&M) and Esther Martinez Initiative. Comments are due 12/30/10, and details on the proposal can be found here: http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/2010/pdf/2010-29976.pdf


Comments in response to this notice should be addressed to Lillian Sparks, Commissioner, Administration for Native Americans, 370 L’Enfant Promenade, SW., Mail Stop: Aerospace 2—West, Washington, DC 20447. A copy of your comments should also be faxed to (202) 690–7441.


The BIA has announced a request for public comment on proposed programs involing Native American Business Development Institute Funding for Economic Development Feasibility Studies and Long-Term Strategic, Reservation- Wide Economic Development Plans, to examine economic development matters within Indian tribes.
