United States: Federal Government Solicits Comments On Programs Impacting Tribal Communities


The Department of Health and Human Services has announced a request for public comment on proposals to adopt new Native Americans program policies and procedures, including Social and Economic Development Strategies; Tribal Governance; Assets for Independence; and Native Language Preservation and Maintenance (Language P&M) and Esther Martinez Initiative. The BIA has announced a request for public comment on proposed programs involing Native American Business Development Institute Funding for Economic Development Feasibility Studies and Long-Term Strategic, Reservation- Wide Economic Development Plans, to examine economic development matters within Indian tribes. The BIA has also announced a request for public comment on a proposed changes to the Tribal Energy Development Capacity Program, which provides development grants to Indian tribes for use in developing and sustaining the managerial and technical capacity needed to develop their energy resources, and to properly account for resulting energy production and revenues.
